Knowledge is not power: Putting awareness into practice

Knowledge is not power.

With more information often comes more confusion in this culture.

Without a substructure of disciplined creativity, information only piles ups higher in your mind.

Accessing a fundamental bit of information at the bottom of that pile becomes increasingly more difficult with the more weight you place on top of it, not mention how efficiently you can even locate that little nugget of information.

Applied knowledge is self-empowerment.

There is an inverse correlation between the amount of information in your mind and the power of each bit of information.

Of course…

Go learn, hypothesize, study, and do all the things forever, but you must also balance your learning with discernment and creativity.

Think of a sculptor in the workshop.

The artist has had years of learning through traditional means but especially through trial and error.

There is an array of materials to choose from in the workshop and all the possible resources that could be available to construct the work.

Expanding knowledge meets all the resources necessary…

but this does not make the act of creation any easier or any more simple.

There is a tendency to think of the best idea, perhaps 5 or 6 ideas, and throw all of them into one piece of work.

Each idea, each material, each method of assembly requires one unit of power and emphasis subtracted from the whole.

5 ideas means each idea can only have a fraction of its latent potential had it been celebrated independently.

This is a difficult approach to make the sum of all parts greater than the whole.

You don’t need to use everything you know in every moment.

In reality, that’s actually far from possible.

You are a masterpiece and a work in progress at the same time.

We are always doing the best we can with what we know, but we are always refining our craft of living.

What throws a wrench in the engine of your inner clarity, confidence, and connection is more information that you don’t have space to integrate into your life.

Information does not provide you with any power.

You claim more of your own potential and power through applying knowledge into the unique circumstance that is YOU.

Do you really need to watch that video?

Do you really need to check up on Instagram for the 3rd time?

Do you really need to research that next business strategy right now?

There is nothing wrong with these things, but you need high level discernment to understand what is nourishing for you right here and right now.

Practicing what you know and what you love is a great place to reclaim your latent potential.
